Course Description

Year 10 Samoan is the foundation level for learning Samoan language. Samoan language at Year 10 will equip students with the knowledge and skills that they need to be successful at the Tongan level 1, 2, and 3. 

AIM OF THIS CLASS:

1.To introduce students to the Samoan language through the development of skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing

2. To introduce students to Samoan culture, protocol, ideas and concepts.

3.  To appreciate different cultural and life experiences.


LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Upon successful completion of this course, students are expected to have:

1.Developed a basic understanding of the Samoan language through skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing.

2. Developed a basic understanding of Samoan culture, protocol, ideas and concepts.

3. Developed an appreciation of a different cultural and life experience.

An introduction to Samoan Language and Culture - (Verbal Skills)

Feiloaiga (Greetings)

Term 3
Kalama ole Gagana - Samoan grammar/Tutoatasi o Samoa - Samoan Independence

Term 4
Talanoaga, Faitau ma le Tusitusi - (Verbal, Reading and Writing skills)

Recommended Prior Learning

An interest in learning Samoan Language, and trying something new.  A basic knowledge/understanding of the Samoan Language would be beneficial.
