NCEA level 2 Tongan focuses on 3 internal assessments and 2 external assessments. These assessments are intended to have the students communicate in lea faka-Tonga with the focus on communicating beyond their immediate context and justifying ideas and opinions. They need to be able to communicate ideas and opinions about past and future events as well as justifying those ideas and opinions. The assessments are as follows
91675 - Give a spoken presentation in Lea Faka-Tonga that communicates information, ideas and opinions
91676 - Interact using spoken Lea Faka-Tonga to share information and justify ideas and opinions in different situations
91678 - Write a variety of text types in Lea Faka-Tonga to convey information, ideas, and opinions in genuine contexts
EXTERNAL PREPARATIONS THIS TERM
91674 - Demonstrate understanding of a variety of spoken Lea Faka-Tonga texts on familiar matters
91677 - Demonstrate understanding of a variety of written and/or visual Lea Faka-Tonga text(s) on familiar matters
Recommended Prior Learning
Requirements for Year 12 Tongan: Students MUST have taken Tongan at year 11 OR Students MUST have a strong understanding of the Tongan language and can demonstrate spoken and written competency in the language. Students MUST be willing to stand and present speeches in spoken Lea faka-Tonga. Students MUST participate in class discussions and contribute.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Total Credits Available: 19 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 5 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 14 credits.
