2CHEMA
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. Lawrence, Mrs E. Ambedkar.

Recommended Prior Learning

At least 1 semester of Science in Year 11.

Strong numeracy skills. Preferably have attained 10 credits at L1 Numeracy.

Level 2 Chemistry Internals: Get Hands-On with Redox & Titration (7 Credits)

Why Level 2 Internal Chemistry?

Looking for a course packed with practical investigations that bring chemistry to life? In this internal course, you’ll:

  • Master Redox Chemistry (AS 91167) – worth 3 credits. You’ll get hands-on experience identifying oxidants and reductants, writing and balancing half-equations, and linking reactions to clear colour changes in solution. Ideal for those who enjoy visible colourful chemistry reactions!

  • Explore Quantitative Analysis via Titration – worth 4 credits. Learn how to accurately determine the concentration of acids or oxidants through volumetric analysis, precision measurement, and data interpretation — all in real lab settings.

That’s 7 credits of practical internal assessments—no external exam required!

What You’ll Gain

  • Practical Chemistry Skills: Use burettes, indicators, and lab measurements to reach endpoint precision.

  • Real Reactions: Observe rapid colour changes and electron transfers that show chemistry in action.

  • Analytical Thinking: Interpret observations, balance chemical equations, and explain electron flow through oxidation numbers or transferred electrons.

  • Confidence in Lab Work: Your results matter—practice leads to clarity, reliability, and lab competence.
