Level 1 History - NZ Significant Historical Events
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Lauaki.
What can we do to change the course of history? In this semester course, we will look at the Springbok Tour Protest in 1981 and how South Africa's racist Apartheid Regime impacted New Zealanders way of life, splitting families and communities down the middle over both politics and sport. We will also look at the Black Civil Rights Movement (USA) during the 1950's-60's, Social Justice / Protest and how the actions of the few can have a dramatic and rippling effect on the many. The learning that will take place in this course is in preparation for the TWO INTERNAL Assessments that you will be sitting during the Semester.
NOTE: ONE of the two Internal assessments offered is a co-requisite standard (worth 5 credits) that can count towards your 'Literacy' credits.
