  • Who can they talk to about the particular career field? (family member, Sandra, other staff member?)

Year 11

  • Do they have Lit and Num? If not, they will need to select 2NUM. This will be added to their timetable if needed.

  • Do the students meet the prerequisites? If not, e-mail the TiC to check their suitability before completing the selection.

  • Discuss that although there are no compulsory subjects in Year 12 or 13, they need to ensure that they select subjects they’re willing to stick to as it is very difficult to pick up a subject in Yr 13 which they haven’t studied at Yr 12...or even Yr 11.

Year 12

  • Do they have L1 Lit and Num? If not, they will need to select 2NUM. This will be added to their timetable if needed.

  • Do they have NCEA L1? If not, what is their target for next year?

  • Discuss that although there are no compulsory subjects in Year 13, they need to ensure that they select subjects they’re willing to stick to as it is very difficult to pick up a subject in Yr 13 which they haven’t studied at Yr 12...or even Yr 11.

  • Are UE students choosing all UE approved subjects? Have they achieved/will they achieve with what is left on offer/are they choosing subjects that offer UE Lit to cover the 5 reading and 5 writing?
