Level 2 Technology (Hard Materials) Semester 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

Semester 1 - Hard Materials

This is a hands-on course. It is an innovative, practical and multi-disciplinary programme for students, providing them with the skills and knowledge to enter into any career in the construction industry.  The programme is primarily workshop-based and we use wood in the workshop as our predominant material. We incorporate other materials, where allowed, to help enhance their students’ end products. Rather than focusing on any one trade, the programme builds skills and an understanding of all trades in the construction industry. It also develops literacy, numeracy and communication skills and has close links with the Technology curriculum.

Students focus on larger projects such as outdoor furniture and those that require more skills that are developed from their Year 11 (Level 1) curriculum.

This course is guided by BCITO and students achieve Unit Standards Credits.

Students will create:

  • An outdoor Table
