Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Lauaki.
Kau mai, lava mai! This Semester you will demonstrate how to make/cook an ‘umu and learn about the different roles of females and males in this setting. You will also have the opportunity to learn ways of making our Tongan cultural attire such as kafa, ta’ovala etc. Also experience Tongan traditions in class and during Tongan Language week.
Recommended Prior Learning
Requirements for Year 12 Tongan:
It would be beneficial if you have also taken the Semester 1 - 2TNGC course.
Students must have taken Tongan at Year 11 ...OR... Approval of HOD Languages.
Students need to have a strong understanding of Tongan and can demonstrate spoken and written competency in the language. Students MUST be willing to stand and present speeches in spoken Lea Faka-Tonga. Students MUST participate in class discussions and contribute.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Total Credits Available: 10 credits.
