Level 2 Tongan - Culture & Heritage
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Lauaki.
Mālō e lelei, this semester you will explore narrating myths, legends, and describing aspects of Tongan culture. The learning will also Tongan customs and protocol at a wedding and funeral. You will learn to develop your language fluency through writing and reading tasks. You will have the opportunity to experience Tongan dance and singing through Polyfest and gaining credits.
Recommended Prior Learning
Requirements for Year 12 Tongan: Students must have taken Tongan at Year 11 ...OR... Approval of HOD Languages.
Students need to have a strong understanding of Tongan and can demonstrate spoken and written competency in the language. Students MUST be willing to stand and present speeches in spoken Lea faka-Tonga. Students MUST participate in class discussions and contribute.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
