Level 2 Dance Performance
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Miss A. Imlach.
Note: This is not a hip-hop course.
Learn a Musical Theatre and a Cultural or social Dance for live performances
Over the course of this semester, we will work on two different dance styles. The first part of the course will see us learn a theatre dance (a dance performed for public entertainment). We will study the style and technique of our chosen theatre piece/choreographer (ie. Bob Fosse (Choreographer) or Hairspray (Musical), and will research costumes of the era or the choreographer. You as a dancer will perform the final dance piece in costume, on stage, under stage lights, with genre-specific make up in front of a live audience. You will be assessed on how well you individually communicate and comprehend the authentic style of our originally studied choreographer/theatre dance. For the second part of the course, you will learn a cultural dance. Where again you will study the style of dance and be assessed for how well you can execute the specific movement skill and technique of it.
