Level 2 Chemistry - Investigating Chemical Reactions
Course Description
This course covers topics that are internally assessed. The standards covered involve exploring oxidation-reduction reactions including recording observations and writing equations, completing a practical investigation into identifying a chemical species present in a sample using qualitative analysis, and discussing the significance of the identified chemical species for people or the environment. Time permitting a third assessment will be offered, also a practical investigation investigating a substance present in a consumer product using quantitative analysis involving calculations to determine its concentration using titration procedures and evaluating the outcome of the investigation in relationship to the consumer product.
Recommended Prior Learning
10 Credits in Level 1 Science and 8 Credits in Level 1 Mathematics
Preference will be given to students who participated in the Level 1 Science External AS92023 - Demonstrate understanding of how the physical properties of materials inform their use.
