Explore the Sounds of Music!
Delve into the rich history of music and explore the rhythmic and harmonic developments that have influenced cultures worldwide. This course offers an in-depth analysis of how past musical traditions have shaped contemporary genres. You will engage in both performance and composition, drawing inspiration from a wide array of musical eras. Through this process, you'll refine your technical skills, deepen your theoretical understanding, and connect with the cultural significance of music. This course is ideal for students seeking to elevate their musicianship and emerge as informed leaders in the arts.
You can begin to focus more on your strengths of either composing or performance at this level, as well as choosing to do non-performance standards such as Research, and Harmonic Theory.
NOTE:
An external may also be offered for students wishing to gain endorsement, however, it is recommended that both Semesters of Music are taken for students to develop their knowledge in order to do this exam.
Additionally, for students wishing to attain the Solo Perform standard, it is recommended that students take both Semesters to attain the level of skills required, and receive enough Itinerant tuition, to be able to successfully complete 2 performance sets.
Recommended Prior Learning
Prior study of Music, such as at Level 1 & 2, is recommended and the ability to play an instrument/sing OR compose, otherwise please seek the advice of the HOD Music for entry.
