Level 1 Hospitality is a gateway into
Students at Level 1 are expected to produce food and beverages within an authentic environment, according to Level 2 commercial standards. Students are required to be committed to practising the Food Safety Standards of New Zealand - short nails, no nail polish or false nails are permitted, jewellery is to be removed, hard covered shoes to protect the feet are required, hair is to be tied back, hair nets are required to be worn and clean aprons to be worn.
Learn and practice the basic techniques and processes in cookery, presenting products that consistently meet level 2 criteria.
Hospitality students at Papakura High School have a well-equipped, purposely built and fully functioning catering kitchen and barista machine for vocational learning and assessment.
Semester A
This course introduces you to career pathways within the Hospitality industry and provides a variety of opportunities to get a taste of the culinary and beverage sectors. You will be trained to industry standards, which will enable you to leave work-ready within the industry. This is a good starter package leading into
