NCEA level 2 Tongan focuses on 3 internal assessments and 2 external assessments. These assessments are intended to have the students communicate in lea faka-Tonga with the focus on communicating beyond their immediate context and justifying ideas and opinions. They need to be able to communicate ideas and opinions about past and future events as well as justifying those ideas and opinions. The assessments are as follows

Recommended Prior Learning
Requirements for Year 12 Tongan: Students MUST have taken Tongan at year 11 OR Students MUST have a strong understanding of the Tongan language and can demonstrate spoken and written competency in the language. Students MUST be willing to stand and present speeches in spoken Lea faka-Tonga. Students MUST participate in class discussions and contribute.
